Common loft conversion problems

Installing a new loft conversion can be a great choice for both home owners and property developers alike. A loft conversion will add both value, and usable space yo your property, creating a more practical home. However, a loft conversion is not always a simple solution, especially when you dont work with an expert. Here at Pinnacle Loft Conversions, we are Preston’s leading loft conversion professionals. As a result, we have produced this guide to the common loft conversion problems.

Common loft conversion problems

So, what are the most frequent issues that occur during the loft conversion process? Well, there are several, including:

  • Neighbour objections- if you are installing a loft conversion in a terraced home, you will need the permission of your neighbours, with whom you share a party wall. If they object, then there is unfortunately, very little you can do.
  • Head height- if you were hoping for a roof-light loft conversion, you will need to make sure that there is enough head height. This must be a minimum of 2.2m. If there is not enough space, unfortunately you wont be able to install a roof light loft conversion. However, you could consider a mansard or dormer conversion instead.
  • Fire safety- if you are hoping to turn your loft conversion into another bedroom, you will need to make sure you follow all the necessary fire safety laws and obligations. Working with a professional team can help to guarantee this, from the very beginning of the process.
  • Loft stairs- once your loft conversion is completed, you will then need to consider the access to the loft. Loft stairs can take up a lot of space on the floor below, and this is something that can be overlooked during the design process.

To avoid any of these mistakes, or others, choose a professional, reliable company to work with, like us here at Pinnacle Loft Conversions.
