What are the options when choosing the right windows for your loft conversion?

So what are your options when it comes to loft conversion windows? Well, there are several, including:

  • Roof lights- these are probably the most common type of loft window. These are installed directly to the sloping ceiling of the loft, and they can be top hung or middle hung depending on the available space inside the loft, as well as your preferences.
  • Dormer windows- these involve cutting a space out of the original roof, and building a raised area above, with additional headroom. In terms of curb appeal, these type of windows are a great option.  They are also particularly suited for properties that have low hanging ceilings in the attic.
  • Gable end windows- these are windows installed in the triangular wall area of lofts with pitched roofs, and they can be incredibly attractive and stylish, adding a feature to your home.
  • Juliet windows/balcony door windows- these are windows that have a balcony rail on the outside, so that you can open the whole window and feel like you are standing outside on a balcony, without leaving your loft conversion. These are often simply full length glass doors that look like windows when closed. These can maximize the light available in your loft conversion, but can involve specialist fitting.
